Work & Power!

Today the 7th grade did a lab on power. The objective was to figure out how much power, in watts, they produced from lifting a weight. The procedure was to measure the distance from their shoulder to their wrist, time how long it took them to lift a weight of a constant mass. (between 5 -20lbs depending on their strength) for 15 repetitions; then they used a formula that included newtons and joules to figure out their work and then their power. Even Mr. And Mrs. Buono participated in what was dubbed "The Battle of the Buono's". Mr. Buono won as he put out power equal to 44 watts while Mrs. Buono could only muster 38 watts. Better luck next time Mrs. Buono!
